Is this a healthy lunch to have everyday?!

Question:

Is this a healthy lunch to have everyday?

At my school cafeteria, they give you an option to have a bagel, 3 mozerella sticks, an apple and milk. Is this an OK lunch to eat everyday? Is is healthy enough?

Answers:
-This lunch does have fiber, in the apple. Fiber keeps you fuller longer. The milk is good, hopefully it is low-fat or skim. The mozzarella sticks are loaded with calories and saturated fat....very bad. The bagel is most likely not whole grain and is then of no nutritional value. White flour bagels are terrible because they are loaded with calories and no nutrients then people load them up with saturated fat toppings. White flour bagels also cause your blood glucose to surge and then crash leaving you craving snacks and feeling hungry (to be more technical bagels have a high glycemic index). Are there any vegetables or lean meats (chicken, turkey, ham) available? Those choices would be better than the cheese sticks and bagel.

Just a bit boring but healthy.

No!,.....it is better to have what i have every day,.....2 double cheese burgers with plenty of salt,.....and for breakfast, 4 candy bars, the king size ones

Well, I guess it gives you some nutrients, and has most of the major food groups covered, but part of a healthy diet is variety! I think I would be packing a lunch everyday if that is all that was offered!

No. It's all carbs, no fiber. Maybe you should start bringing your lunch.

As long as you eat other tipes of good food during the day, veggies..... lean meats.....fruits......

That is pretty healthy, but if I were you I would mix it up a bit each day. Try changing one of the items in your menu each day. Instead of an apple, eat an orange. Then instead of cheese sticks eat a piece of baked chicken or steamed fish. This will keep you from getting "burned out" of the same thing day after day and it will give you a greater variety of nutrition.

I would cut the mozerella sticks and add a veggie or salad if you are trying to be really healthy.

I mean, what you are eating now is not bad, but mozerella siticks are high in fat and usually cooked in a lot of grease.

It's healthy but really boring!! They could have healthier foods. But since it's a school, it wont happen.

How about having 1 mozerella stick 1 apple, bring a hardboiled egg and a handful of whole grain crackers.

With all of the carbs of the bagel, plus the cholesteral of the mozerella, I'm not thinking that sounds healthy to me.

Try yogurt and an energy bar or fresh fruit and a salad.
