How do you prepare fresh mussels?!

Question:

How do you prepare fresh mussels?

i was gettin all one with nature and sh** today picking up mussels off the beach. how're you supposed to cook 'em?

Answers:
First off, you have to wash them very well under running water till there are no more sand. Take off that thing hanging out which looks like algae. You can turn them into soup. Boil a little water, then put in crushed ginger, garlic, spring onion (the white part cut into long pieces), sliced bell pepper and fresh tomato chunks with skin and seeds on. When it boils, put the mussels in. Season to taste. When the mussels open, it's cooked. Add a dash of pepper and sprinkle with green onions right before serving. Enjoy your soup while it's hot!

Steam them, then eat them with melted butter.

they are best steamed....put them in a steel colander over some boiling water

when they are done you can also sautee them with some shallots and white wine

delisioso

Clean them real good first to make sure no sand or dirt gets in them and steam them. They are good sauted afterwords in a cream sauce or just simple butter and wine.

Shell the mussels with a blunt knife, scramble up a whole mess of eggs, throw in some parsley, and cut the mussels in half (bite sized) then drop them on top of the eggs, turn em and make sure they dont over cook, serve piping hot. Its like a taste sensation in your mouth, absolutely delishimo.....

Steaming them, with a little wine and garlic added to the boiling water, is the way to go. When they open, they're done. You don't pick mussels up off the beach, though. They attach themselves to rocks or cultivator's ropes with tough threads. It'd be a good idea to know what you're eating and make sure there is no seafood poisoning happening in your area.
