i have been asking everyone about these, and NO-ONE knew what i was on about and decided i was making them up!!
I even have a recollection that the some of the packets had a giraffe, on the back, and a 4 line rhyme too

Yes, I do and I loved them, they were like Minstrels without the sugary shell, they should bring them back!!!
They still make them, but only to go into packs of Revels, and if you get 4 in a pack you're lucky!
Yes, white packets with a picture of a Giraffe on them.A bit like Cadbury's buttons, or more like the buttons we get in Minstrels.They were lovely.I liked the Pink Panther pink candy bars as a kid too.
