Difference in roasted, boiled and raw??!

Question:

Difference in roasted, boiled and raw??

Does anyone knows the difference between raw and boilde food in calories? Does raw food have more, less or same calorie number if its boiled only in water? Or if its roasted and fired without oil, butter ( nothing with it), does it have same number of calories? I m really interested, but I can't find out... :( Help...

Answers:
If you eat raw meat (which I do not suggest!) you will consume more of the fat in the meat. Grilling the meat, melts the fat, and the majority of it can be drained. So in this case it will make a significant difference to the calories.

However, cooking / roasting only cause moisture, sugar, nutrient and fat loss, so the majority of complex carbohydrates will remain. Cooked potatoes and rice, which is high in carbs (with calories) are relatively similar than of the raw potato and rice. So in this case the potato only gains water, looses nutrients and small percentage of low molecular weight sugars. Because most of the potato's energy is in the complex carbs, it remains relatively stable during cooking.

there is no single answer to you question. cooking doesnt gerneraly change calorific value but boiling for example can take away most of the goodness in terms of minerals from foods.

If you put food in an oven with out an oil or fat then its baked unless it has its own fat to baste its self.

If you wanted to regulate calorific intake you would be better paying attention to the weight of food not its preparation method - oil frying execpted!
