Why does bread land butter side down?!
Why does bread land butter side down?
How comes when I drop a bit of bread it always lands butter side down???
Answers:
coz its a little heavier
Its that Law ... Sods Law .. affects us all m'dear !!
Physics, it's heavier on that side.
not sure, but i think it is because the buter adds weight, and theres more weight focused on one side, i.e. more butter on one side, causing it to turn over, then not turn back butter side up, because the weight is downwards, butter side down, if that makes sense.
One of the rules of life....I liked the question asked on here not so long ago....
If bread lands butter side down, and a cat lands on its feet, what happens when you tie a piece of bread butter side up on the back of a cat????
The buttered side is heavier?
no physics involved. it was proved on mythbusters.
i think its just down to sods law.
because the butter makes the buttered side heavier and the heaviest side falls quicker
Because the buttered side weighs heavier than the un buttered side, so gravity is likely to pull the heaviest side down first, ending it flat on your floor.
Dont you just hate it.
I have never tested this.
Its because the butter is full of mini ppl in parachutes so IT always lands butter sides up!!!!!
it doesn't always - but we all notice when it does and don't notice when it lands the other way round!!
and cats don't always land on their feet either, just mostly!!!
Gravity. Butter side is heavier, so it often goes first..but not always!
because the butter is heavy so it trys to get down first............................
Because the weight of the butter dictates which way it will fall.. same with cupcakes, the frosting pulls it down first.
It's physics, but it's not simply because the butter side is heavier its because of the number of full rotations it makes on its way down due to the height of the table and the size of the toast.
If we had a table twice the height or we were twice as tall our toast would usually land butter side up!
Unfortunately we evolved so that our buttered toast would always be ruined....
However if we ate tiny pieces of buttered toast then the would usually land butter side up!... but who wants to eat tiny pieces of toast?!
Thats a really good question! I wish I had the answer! Its the same if you drop the lid of the butter - it always lands butter side down!!
cos you never got it to your mouth quick enough
tmd
that would be murphys or sods law.
there's a reasonable scientific explaination appearently
please see link below.
I'm no scientist but I can back betty up!!
I saw it on TV a few years ago (I was sick and bored!). The height the average slice is dropped from means it has just the right length to land butter side down. I had always assumed it was because of the weight but apparently that is neglegable, unless, like me you spread your butter in slices like cheese!! (bring on the heart attack!)
Its because its heavier on the buttered side of the bread
