Any quick and easy lunch ideas for kids?!

Question:

Any quick and easy lunch ideas for kids?

I need something that a kid would be able to make that is easy and that doesn't have that many strange ingredients. Recipes and directions would be great! Thank you for your ideas!

here's a bunch to choose from:

Set out small dishes or plates of foods you know kids like such as cubed cheese, cutup hot dogs, boiled eggs, crackers in different shapes and flavors, cutup fruit that can be sprinkled with lemon juice to keep it from turning brown, yogurt in tubes, cutup vegetables like carrots and celery, individual boxes of raisin or rainsin in a bowl, trailmix, colorful cereals in a bowl that they can take some out of it, peanut butter, Jello that they can pick up with their fingers, cookies...

I would get disposable cups, containers, or small party plates that you can buy on sale that hold their interest.

There are loads of things kids can do, provided there is a "grownup helper" around to do things like using the cooker and supervising use of sharp implements. Here are a few ideas:

- Sandwiches. Obvious but really easy, and to ring the changes you could use pitta bread that they can stuff with interesting things, or wraps.

- Salad: Let them choose what they want to put in eg grated carrot, raisins, cucumber, cheese cubes, crispy lettuce, sweetcorn, ham or cooked bacon, sweet pepper...

- Potato salad: let them mix it together after the "grownup helper" has cooked the potatoes.

- Pizza. Start with a bought base, crumpets or muffins and a simple tomato sauce (fry finely chopped onions until soft, add mixed herbs, tomato puree, and canned tomatoes, then cook until it thickens and tastes good.). Then let them add what they want - make a face even, and the grownup helper puts it under the grill or in the oven depending on what base you choose. This is good hot, and they can also take it cold to school in a lunchbox

- Pasta and sauce: depending on the child's age, they could help stir sliced hot dogs, peppers etc into cooked pasta and tomato sauce (see above). Also good cold as pasta salad

- Soft cheese/dips and dippers: If you're health conscious, you can avoid over-processed cheese spreads and use a little pot of soft cheese with carrot sticks, celery, blanched green beans or mangetout, tortilla chips or crispy toasted pitta bread strips.

Sweet stuff:

- Rice crispie cakes: melt 150g chocolate and 50g butter or margarine, then stir in lots of rice krispies or cornflakes. Get the kids to do the stirring!

- Fruit Salad: get them to cut up fruit they like and stir it all together in a bowl, then dole out into small pots for lunchboxes.

- Biscuits. They can help with everything other than cooking.

Pita Bread Pizza

Just spread your favorite spaghetti sauce over. Add your favorite toppings and heat in the oven at 375 degrees until cheese is melted. The crust will be nice and crispy. You can also drizzle a little olive oil and extra oregano before you spread the spaghetti sauce. It's simple, cheap and quick. Kid's love it. So does my husband, lol.
