How likely will I get food poisening and how long will it take for symtoms?!

Question:

How likely will I get food poisening and how long will it take for symtoms?

I got tainted chicken in my mouth. Spit it out, did not swallow. Rinsed with mouthwash. It wasn't much but I am scared to death of food poisoning. What is the likelihood of getting sick?

Answers:
not likely of getting sick...

You'll find out anywhere from 4 hours to 24 hours.

None

Very little.

I think you're a little paranoid... you're fine!

The chances of your getting food poisoning from what you describe are virtually nil. You don't get it by putting it in your mouth, you get it by having it in your stomach and it having time to grow and develop there - usually 4 - 6 hours after eating. If you get it (and most people do sometime in their life), you probably will have upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea. If you suspect you took in a lot of food (as at a picnic) or you find other people eating the same food were sick, go to your doctor or emergency room.

The same thing happened to me once, i spit it out and then rinsed. i was fine. you shouldn't worry about it.

trust me you'll know if you have food poisoning, symptoms will start that day or next at the latest, but you should be fine

0% Chances of food poisoning, I'm kitchen worker and these things are a constant NEED-TO-KNOW, or i become not fit for purpose (sacked) . It takes at least 2-3,1/2 hours to digest food depending on age, if you have not shown any symptoms of dry mouth, sick feeling, constant shitting (runnies), temperature, dizziness, drowsiness, you in the clear.. if however you do take on these symptoms it may take 24-48 hours to pass the poisoning through. after that consult you GP/doctor. OR GO TO THE HOSPITAL IMMEDIATELY!!
good luck!

if you didn't eat it you cant get sick
