Is it worth getting a bread maker ?????
Answers:
depends on if you plan on really using it. i personally think the oven is just fine for me but if you make tons of bread and want a machine to do all the work then i think an affordable one may be worth your while.
Providing you don't have to marry her.
I loved mine when I first got it and it made wonderful bread. I realised, however that it was costing me a fortune in electricity and ingredients to make a small loaf as it took on average 2 1/2 hours to bake. I gave it away
i think its just like having a new toy. fun for a while, but you soon get bored and leave it at the back of the cupboard
yeah, i love mine-my bread never worked when i made it without one-never had the patience to let it rise properly! kept prodding at it...
My mom has one and the bread turns out sooooo good! i definitely think it's worth it.
no
I like my bread maker but it's easier to just buy bread at the bread store for 25 cents then buy a mixture for 2 bucks. Faster too.
That depends on you. I make bread every two weeks or so. I used to do it more, but I just don't have the time. I found the bread maker useful if you're using it just for the end result of having bread. I found, however, that I love the making of the bread more than the bread itself. Not that I don't love bread, believe me, I do. But I love the mixing of the dough, the feeling the dough get soft and silky as I knead it and the smell of the yeast wafting up past my nose as it warms under the heat of my hand. It's a great stress reliever. I donated my bread maker to a charity organization after a month. I don't miss it at all.
Not if you want to stay slim. We bought a Panasonic SD253 some months ago (about £80 from Amazon) and it is fantastic. We wake every morning to freshly baked bread. It never fails and makes all sort of seeded bread, pizza bases and all sorts of dough. If it broke I would buy another immediately without question. It costs about 40p to make a loaf so eventually it will pay for itself.
Yes, if you really want to use it. Not just baking a loaf in there. I have a Breadman Pro which I looooove. I use it once or twice a week. I never bake in there, I make dough and toss in random herbs and garlic and make French bread and bake in the oven. If you find baking fun, then it's perfect. I once made a dough and rolled it out and we put pesto and pepperoni and feta and more cheese on it and rolled it up to bake. Best bread ever!
I never use the machine for baking a sandwich loaf. Ya gotta have fun with it!
If you like to bake alot of bread then yes. You have to use thier product though, you can't use your own recipes. In my opinion, nothing beats hand made, homemade bread.
I got one years ago and used it regularly. The bread was always fresh (obviously) and the smell Goooooooorgeous!! BUT ... like a lot of other people have already said, the novelty wore off and now you are able to get such a wide range of healthy breads from stores, it didn't seem so important to make my own.
No
the loaf comes out stupid looking
and is a mess to clean.
They DO make fixing the dough easy.
If you make bread already, it probably won't help you. Potentially, it saves time, but it will interfere with the way you vary the process when you're doing it by hand.
If you've never made bread, then it's probably a very good idea, because it concentrates the activity on one gadget, so that you'll find it much quicker and simpler to get used to.
Bread these days is as dry as cardboard and tastes really synthetic. They put laods of preservatives and additives into bread.
You cant beat a home made loaf of bread and the smell too!
I wanted one for several years and then got one a few years ago.
I don't use it as much as I would like to, though.
I do think it was worth it and I like to make dough in it for dinner rolls.
I put ground flax seed in them and it makes the bread a lot more healthier to put in stuff like that.
The only thing I don't like about it is the little hole it leaves in the bread loaf where the paddle is.
It is fun to use though and when I do make bread the loaf is usually gone by the end of the day.
Simply no!
Like many other kitchen time saving devices they take up too much space, are a pain to clean and its easier and cheaper to go out and buy the bread freshly made at your supermarket or local bakery. Mine is joining the food mixer and coffee maker on the next car boot!
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.....
yum yum....yes if you love fresh baked bread and do enough exercise to make up for the extra carbs you'll be eating!!!!
i use mine in a very hit and miss fashion but i love it too! they aren't all that big and store easily so go for it.
actually don't use up that much electricity but obviously never going to be as cheap as value pack white sliced!!!
also not hard to clean, just soak to get mixing paddle out then wipe out bread tin.
no preservatives/additives/packag... etc
can make pizza dough/doughnut dough/cake mix and all sorts in them as well and especially good for creating own breads, mix wholemeal/white or rye or make 7 grain breads or add cheese or nuts or hemp/pumpkin/sesame/poppy/sunf... seeds or fruit or...the list is endless and mouth watering!!!
also the best gentle awakening in the world to set the bread machine on timer and wake up to the smell of fresh baked bread wafting through the house...
infact i'm off to get mine out the cupboard now and put some on - thanks for the reminder!!!
Personally, I don't think so, it is more economical to make a batch of bread by filling the oven, then making use of the freezer.
Ask yourself -
Do you have room for one
Will you make regular use of it
Do you mind the extra cost of electricity for making one loaf at a time.
not really, its always better to make your own dough and stick it in a bread tin and let it rise!
Truth No there is so many kinds of bread in the shops now days. That you cant even make it as cheap.Am a chief i used to make fresh bread 1st thing in morning.but its just to long to do.If you have the time and you dont mind the cost yes buy one.X Cindy
Some people would tell you yes........... I would say no.
You can mix bread by hand and have a couple of loaves in just as much time or less.......... but if you aren't a bread maker by hand and only need one loaf then the bread machine could be for you.......... i personally don't think it's worth the money............. received one as a gift several years ago and have only used it maybe 3 or 4 times.
I asume you are in the UK. If we could readily buy good quality bread in Britain then I would say why bother - but we can't. Apologies to the very few artisan, small bakeries around the country who can but sadly there are none anywhere near me. Buy a loaf from any of the big names (Warburtons, Kingsmill etc) and try a taste test up against home made bread. No contest - the former is just doughy commercial goo and bears no resemblance to real bread whatsoever. I bought my first bread maker about 8 years ago and use it all the time. You also need to buy a book for recipes rather than rely on those that come with the machine - "The Complete Book of Bread and Bread Machines" by Christine Ingram and Jennie Shapter is brilliant. Every type of bread (and sweet cakes) you can think of. I have heard of people who bought a machine and after a couple of goes put it in the back of the cupboard. Please don't - it takes only a few minutes to put the ingredients in and you can even set it on timer to make the bread in the early hours for the following day. It is tastier, it has no flavour enhancers or so called flour improvers and you know how fresh it is. Bon appetite.
