You can eat them raw. Haven't you ever heard of steak tar tar or steak carpachio. Raw eggs are eaten in tons of cultures. I eat raw fish, and beef. I have eaten cookie dough with raw egg in it. I like my eggs cooked light and runny so I guess I eat raw eggs also. Most people dont because they can breed bacteria faster and cooking kills the germs.

Well cause theres too much bacteria on it, its dirty, i see where your getting at, by the way.

Our system is not built for it. It's like how birds eat worms but dogs don't. Each animal has its own diet and we humans have to modify food to fit our needs.

Our bodies cant fight the bacteria and things that grow on raw meat.

=]

We can actually, but it tastes better cooked.

I never thought of that before. Perhaps if we DID eat raw meat we'd eventually build antibodies to fight the bad stuff?

People still eat raw fish and eggs. Not so much raw meat, as it doesn't taste that good. Only raw meat that's still eaten widely is Saviche, however, some people order their steaks so pink it might as well be raw.

We can. It's just a bad idea if there is any chance of bacteria being on the food, especially salmonella. Most animals do better fighting off bacteria than humans do.

If you get your meat and eggs and fish from a very trusted source, and it is handles in a very secure manner, and it is stored properly, then you can eat it raw. But that is a lot of trouble, and still has a lot of risk, and except for Steak Tartare and sushi, most of it tastes much better cooked anyway. Cooking changes the flavor and texture in pretty favorable ways, so why would you want raw?

Ever hear of Steak Tartar

Humans can and do eat raw meat.
Steak tartare
Sushi
Oyster shooters
to name a few, also raw eggs......
home-made or restaurant made aioli, some salad dressings.

It isn't recommended that people eat raw or unpasturized food procucts, because most people don't have the advantage of actually having it fresh. Food borne illness can occur in uncooked meats, especially poultry, but for most people, it's conditioning. They like the meat not only cooked, but well seasoned.

We can...two of my favorite dishes are sashimi and beef carpaccio...both raw. I eat them all of the time and haven't got sick once!

We most defiantly can. It just depends on the meat. It is something of an acquired taste but not bad.

Raw meat has bacteria, which is harmful to humans. Other animals can eat raw meat because they have different immune systems than humans.
It's okay to eat raw eggs. But once you crack the shell, you have to eat it immediately. If you let the raw egg sit out too long, it becomes poisonous.

Some people do. I was watching one of those wife swap shows and they featured a family who ate everything raw. Grossed me out. The new wife took them to a restaurant and they ordered all fried food and ended up getting sick the next day. Unless meat is cooked to a certain temperature, you can get sick. I'd prefer to stay healthy, so I'll eat mine cooked. :-)
