Question:

What are those Italian cookies called?

they are flat and have a waffle/flower pattern on them. and they are yummy, and if you get them in the bakery they are covered in powdered sugar. Anyone know?

Answers:
PIZELLES (ITALIAN COOKIES)
and heres a recipe to go with

1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. anisette flavor
1 tsp. anisette seeds

Use a pizzelle iron! Cream butter, sugar and eggs together in a large bowl; sift flour, salt and baking powder together; add to sugar mixture and mix; add anisette flavoring and seeds.
Make sure your iron is hot; rub with oil; drop 1 teaspoon batter in center of iron; close lid. Cook 15 to 20 seconds only. Check to see, so they don't burn. Use 2 forks to remove; drain on paper towels. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top when cool, or leave plain; store in an airtight container lined with waxed paper.

Pizzelles. You need a special iron/press to make them. Here's some info:

Pizzelles. Yum!

Pizelles. They are made with a special pizelle iron. The traditional flavoring is anise. But they're also great flavored with lemon, vanilla or chocolate. They're easy to make and you can buy the irons over the Internet or in specialty cook shops. If you try making them, the tip to keep in mind is to let them cool down spread out on racks so they "breathe" on top and bottom until they cool. Don't stack them while they still warm, or they won't be crispy. Once they've cooled, you can stack them and wrap them up to store.
