Should I eat these hot dogs I found? Serious question...?!

Question:

Should I eat these hot dogs I found? Serious question...?

I found this old package of Hebrew National frankfurters buried in my freezer and since I bought some new mustard the other day I figured I'd eat them. Then I looked at the SELL BY date of May 6, 2006. After some research from the USDA, they say for Maximum quality hot dogs should be frozen no longer than 2 months. So its been about 12 months, has anyone ever eaten frozen hot dogs this old before? Should I eat them? I really don't want to toss them out since Im against wasting food, and I kinda have a tolerant stomach, What should I do? serious advice would be most appreciated.

ew thats grose throw them out and save the mustard for some FF's (fresh franks)

defrost them. if they stink, throw it out. otherwise, munch out.

Yes! The flavor may be a little off...but since they were frozen they will not have any food borne illnesses or any other nasty things. Good luck!

ummm nah deff dont eat them unless your like totally desperate lol

I have never eaten hot dogs that old before, however, after eating 2 year old MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) while in the military, I am sure they will not kill you. If the dogs were consistently frozen for the entire period of time...you'll be ok.

Now if we are talking about taste...not so sure about that one...I know things in the freezer have a tendency to develop a freezer burn like taste after a while...so it really depends on your tolerance to semi-tasty hot dogs.

As a test..take one of the dogs out and cook it up and see what it tastes like. If it is good...bam...you are in business..eat all you want.. if they do not taste so good...toss them out or find a really hungry stray.

Good luck!

I would cook them and see how they look. At the worst they might be a little freezer burt and taste like the freezer. I've eaten things frozen that long before.

ok since i work at a grocery store, my advice would be NO. sure there froozen but things froozen only last so long also not to mention they may have freezer burn.

when in doubt, throw them out.
safest strategy.

Waste a perfectly good hot dog? And a kosher one to boot? Of course you can eat them! They'll be fine. The sell date means just that -- the date after which you may not sell them. They're still fine to eat. Enjoy! By the way, yes, I've done that. No prob.

Actually what you should do is cook the hot dogs eat half seeing as how they were frozen and theyll be fine trust me then take the other half and throw them at in the garbage i know most people will not understand this concept but it makes sense you just have to think...

or you could just buy new ones but i like my first idea better

Dude. Get really high and it should be no problem eating them even if they smell. Just add extra ketchup and drink a beer. The worst is you'll have the Mississippi Mud in the morning. I don't waste food either. When theirs food in my refrigerator.
