Is pizza unhealthy for you?

Is there any kind of pizza that can be healthy?


Answers:
Pizza can actually be good for you as you can get a pretty balanced meal in there provided you go light on the cheese and fatty meats. Load it up with veggies and you should be fine.

Remember there's a lot of calories in the cheese and pepperoni.

My favourite is the margherita: tomato, basil, and mozzarella. Simple and much lower in fat than it's pepperoni cousin.

Lightly toast a pitta bread.
Spread tomato puree on it.
Grate some cheese onto it.

And then put it under the grill until it goes crispy enough to eat. which is about 5 mins or so..

Absolutely! Veggie pizzas are wonderful for you...the reason why pizza can be so unhealthy is because of all the crazy stuff we put on it. Of course, it would be unwise to eat pizza every day, but pizza as a treat with nutritious toppings is certainly not bad for you.

Pizza's tomato is good but pizza's cheese and pepperoni are often quite fatty. :( sad but true!

Pizza contains cheese which is oily, canned tomato sauce, and bread which is a carbohydrate, yes its unhealthy.

Its not so much the pizza that is unhealthy....its what you put on it and how much you eat. If you want to go nuts healthwise, you can make yourself a whole grain crust from scratch, skimp on the cheese or use soy cheese, and top it with vegetables. One thing I like to do is go to a take and bake pizza place (Papa Murphys in my case). Order a pizza with a lot of veggie toppings (onions, peppers, artichoke heart, zucchini, spinach, mushrooms, etc) and ask them to only use half as much cheese on your pizza as they normally would put on one. The result is a really tasty treat, that isn't nearly as bad for you as one loaded with processed meats.

It's all a matter of what toppings you put on it. Veggies, chicken...fine. Light on the cheese and possibly thin crust. This way it's not so bad for you. It's really not horrible anyways unless you get all of the fattening meat on there like italian sausage and pepperoni. Besides the chicken not being so bad, ham is a good alternative, too. It doesn't seem like it but it's pretty low in fat the way it is on a pizza. (thin slices)

Pizza could be good or bad for you. It all depends on what you get on the pizza. If you get like veggie lovers pizza its a little healthier. But dont just overbear it with meat. The bread is not good if your on a diet. But if your going to eat pizza dont eat alot and get less meat.

Depends what you put on it! I very occassionally buy a tomato cheese base or even a plain one, add my own toppings - more cheese, lots of veg and some meat.
