Question:

What is the difference between pancake and hot cake?

Answers:
Two different words for the same thing.

North and South. (c:

I think that they are the same...just different areas call them different things. Like soda and pop.

i don't think there is i've seen difference in size sometimes. i think hot cakes are smaller.

pancake has got a pan as a prefix while a hotcake has got hot as a prefix

Nothing, they are one and the same.

Hotcakes are cooked in bacon grease, and at a lower temp. Same kind of batter, and maybe somewhat thicker. Also, they will never be refered to as "light & fluffy" because they were meant to be VERY filling and stay with you for a while.

They are the same food, but have different names in different regions

These days, hotcake, griddlecake, and pancake are interchangeable. It's a matter of regional preference and the what you grew up calling it. Pancakes is the term most often used in National chain restaurants and large commercial manufacturers for grocery stores in the US.

never heard of hotcakes!

there is no difference! just different names
