Question:

Whats the best why to do mack and cheese?

Answers:
Here's 2 different recipes, both very good:

Stove Top Macaroni & Cheese

1/2 pound elbow macaroni
4 tablespoons butter
2 eggs
6 ounces evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Fresh black pepper
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
10 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded

In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to al dente and drain. Return to the pot and melt in the butter. Toss to coat.
Whisk together the eggs, milk, hot sauce, salt, pepper, and mustard. Stir into the pasta and add the cheese. Over low heat continue to stir for 3 minutes or until creamy.

Baked Macaroni & Cheese

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk (I warm it up in the micro 2 minutes)
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups shredded cheese (recipe calls for American or Cheddar - I like using extra sharp cheddar)
8 oz. elbow pasta

Cook (omitting salt) and drain pasta - I undercook according to package by 1-2 minutes.

Melt butter over low heat, gradually add flour, stirring until smooth. Keep stirring and cook 1 minute. Increase heat to medium and gradually add milk. Cook until it's bubbly - keep stirring. Add salt and cheese, stir until cheese melts.
At this point, you can add the pasta directly to the saucepan and eat it. If you have time, it's worth the extra effort to bake it!
Stir everything together and bake in a 11x7 casserole dish at 350 for about 30 minutes.

You could also add some bread crumbs mixed with melted butter scattered across the top before baking.

ENJOY!

homeade, and add mayo!

the best *why*? because it's a tasty comfort food.

home made and bake it till golden brown on top with some seasoned bread crumbs on top

Get a box of Velveeta cheese and follow the recipe on the box !!! It is awesome !!! mmmmm

macks should be ones made with eggs , not ones spaghetti type; cheese should be white feta cheese, Greek type; boil maks according the instruction from 7 to 15 min - put them in boiling water, 2 liters per 0.5 kg. macks. add teaspoon of salt in the water first. When boiled, rinse with cold water just for few seconds, add a tea cup of suger, 50 gr. butter, and cheese - 200 -300 gr. Take 1 Lt. 3.5% milk, add in 3 eggs, shake well. Put the macks in a suitable form, cover with the milk and in the oven - 220 degrees C, for 30 min. Dint forget to put vanilla in the milk. Enjoy and mind your weight :)

One pound elbow mac noodles. One large block velveeta cheese. One can cream of mushroom soup (concentrate). A couple TB of margarine. In a saucepan, over med low heat, melt the margarine and add the can of soup. Cut the velveeta into cubes and add to soup & margarine. Stir frequently until the cheese mix is almost smooth. Takes about 15 minutes .... don't try and hurry by upping the heat, it will just scorch the mix and make it taste disgusting! Meanwhile, boil your noodles per pkg instructions and drain well. In 9 X12 cake pan, mix noodles and cheese mix together. At this point you can cover tightly with aluminum foil and refrigerate for later or put in oven right away at 350 degrees for about 30-40 minutes. When cheese is bubbly and just starting to brown a bit around the edges it is ready to come out. Serve immediately. Your friends and family are gonna LOVE it ! When we have family get-togethers it is always on the menu or my family moans and whines, lol. It's also a hit at pot-luck parties.

I love it for a party because I can put it all together ahead of time and then just pop it in the oven a half hour or so before mealtime!
