Should you keep ground coffee in the fridge once the packet is opened?!

Question:

Should you keep ground coffee in the fridge once the packet is opened?

Answers:
Yes but also in an airtight container!

Best way to keep them is in a ziploc bag in the freezer.

Personally, I don't. It dries the oils in the coffee. I just keep it in a sealed can.

I have heard this but never found that storing it in the fridge or the freezer helps too much, i now just grind or buy enough to see me through a month and then buy fresh again, it seems more effective.

If you can keep air away it make sense.

i do.

I keep mine in a ziptop bag in the freezer. Squeeze out all the air you can.

I keep mine in the freezer tightly sealed, but I heard it looses it's oil this way. Mine never goes stale though.

I do, it seems to keep it fresher for longer.

it should be kept in a cool dark environment so yeah fridge would be ideal but not entirely necessary

I do not know the science of it, but chilled coffee beans somehow just dont taste that good...what i know of the best way to preserved the taste, aroma and shelf life is to store it in a vaccum container and put it away from direct sunlight

Yes - we get through a packet a week so it is always pretty fresh anyway.

I don't think that's necessary, as long as the container it's in can be sealed shut in some way.

I always have done, in an air tight container too.
