Caesar sent teams of runners into the mountains to get snow, which was then flavored with honey, fruits, and juices.
Marco Polo returned to Italy from the Far East with a recipe that closely resembled what is now called sherbet. Historians believe that this is the recipe that evolved into ice cream sometime during the 16th century in Italy.
Ice cream was first made available to the general public for the first time at Cafe Procope, the first cafe in Paris.
milk. they got ice from the mountains of tibet, delivered it to a mongol king who usually eats it with milk. that was like 15 thousand billion years ago.
Ice cream is one of those things that the history is really sporadic and diff. depending on the region but generally ice cream started off as just flavored ice ...kinda of like modern day sorbet or icees? and I think sometime in the 1800's cream or milk basically dairy products were introduced to the recipe making what we know today as 'ice cream'. the flavor was conditioned to whatever was available for that region that was making it (kinda like liquor) but the first cookbook to feature an ice cream recipe was in 1750 something and the flavor was rasberry. as for how ice cream was made i mean if you want to go alllllllllll the way back then ice was taken from things like oceans and lakes in the cold months and stored (in like holes in the ground) then packed into bowls and salt was added to cool it down to make lower than 0 degree temp water .....ok u know what it's just boring basically you take cream, flavoring and sweetners, and add really really cold additives stirring constantly so it doens't turn to a big mound of ice cream. (like a cremesicle). Then back in the day you ate it right away of course now we have temp control so it can be stored as oppsed to eatting ice cream soup when it gets too hot or sitting the container on the counter when it's too frozen solid. Hope I'm making sense.
I was probably Vanilla and they accidentally churned it in the cold weather......
