How long can yogurt sit out for ?!

Question:

How long can yogurt sit out for ?

I'm not sure how long my yogurt was sitting out but I had it @ like 8:20 this morning & it's now 1:10. There were 3 on the counter. I asked a nurse if it was ok to eat even tho it was out @ 10 b/f (wks ago) & she said it was ok but is it still ok to eat after it was out for *5* hrs ??? Or should I just smell it & see if it looks ok to eat ? I'm assuming that it'd have fuzz on it if it's no good... (gross !) I have 3 out right now & it musta been me who took them out... Had a quick breakfast & was in such a hurry I didn't even realize that I took the whole bag out (bag of 4) of the fridge :( So now I prob have 3 yogurts that are no good :(

Btw, the expiration date was in a long time... so it had nothing to do w/ the expiration date. Also, I opened up 2 yogurts a couple of days later & even tho the expiration date wasn't for a long time there was still mold starting to grow ! :( So I hadda throw those out... :(

rule of thumb.......when in doubt, throw it out

it depends on what the temperature is. if it was like 60 it could last a while. but 100's give it 2 full days

It really does depend on the temperture of the place where you put them....Different temperatures make things come out different and the results are endless....its ok, just buy some more and be careful where you put them...leave them in the fridge and make sure you read the date when it will expire. That is a good help
Good Luck!!

If it is still set and was in a cool environment, it should be okay. However, if is has started to break up and looks very watery, then better to be safe and leave it.

If you're not sure, the best thing is to throw it out. My husband left his milk on the
counter and went to a meeting. When I saw it I knew it had been out a long time
as he gets up really early. So I threw it down the sink. It really is safer. It is a milk
product.

Wow, I wouldn't if I were you, because when you get food poisoning it does not feel good at all.

Be safe. Throw out the stupid yogurts.

my home-ec teacher in 8th grade said don't eat anything after 2 hours of being left out.
