Depends on whether I want tart or sweet. Jonathan USED to be the best all 'round eating apple but they have done something to them and they aren't as good as they once were. I like the small red Delicious apples from Washington State, Granny Smith are a good tart apple but pricey, Fuji apples aren't too bad.
I'd say my favorite apple to eat is the HoneyCrisp (the Minnesota state fruit)
