Do you read the label on a loaf of bread?!

Question:

Do you read the label on a loaf of bread?

We already have the salt content, fat content, ad naseum.
Now the UK govt want to introduce a 'carbon footprint' announcement on the label.

Don't know about you, but I just want a chip buttie or egg sarnie when I get home at midnight. Carbon footprint means
zilch to me, although I understand what they are on about.

Yes, I worry about the planet; and yes, I do my recyclling bit faithfully. But do I now need to watch everything I eat?

Is this OTT?

Answers:
It's all ridiculous....... don't eat this, don't eat that. All things in moderation is all anyone needs

I never read the packaging on my bread. I just know I want a slice of brown or white

i do i always look to see if it contains hydrogenated fat that is really bad

Thick, Thin, Medium, Brown, White, or Both , that is all I know,

I don't read the label - can't understand most of the information. Make your own bread - I do - get a breadmaker - takes 2 mins to bung all ingredients into it, put it on the timer if you need to. Added bonus is your house will smell all homely and the bread will be fresher than anything you can buy - and you will know exactly what went into it! Best thing I ever did - haven't bought any bread for the last year and a half - and its cheaper - and you can make pizza... hot cross buns... chelsea buns... croissants... brown bread... pitta bread...

I do, just wonder how much working out the carbon footprint is going to add to my loaf

yes, you do need to have a healthy diet, but you don't need to cut out the chocolate ot the crisps, have a balanced diet.

no, i don't read the label on a loaf of bread, 1. because i don't know if i should trust the labels
2. because it just tottally confuses me.

all i do is make sure that i have a balanced diet
i too recycle and do my bit for the planet

No !! But I do look at the expiry date !!

I only read the 'best before date' most bread has a blue mould on it 2 or 3 days after it's best before date. The ONLY one that doesn't seem to do this is Warburtons. The best bread ever apart from fresh baked.

I don't read the labels on any food at all. I'd rather stick to enjoying my food than scrutinise the minute details of it.

no. I have never read the label on bread. ITS BREAD.
