what should i stay away from or limit myself to?

Answers:
fruits have a lot of sugar, and even though it's natural sugar, you shouldn't eat too many fruits. also, a lot of veggies have too many carbs, so try to stay away from carrots, corn, mangos, pineapple, avocados, bananas, grapes, etc (these fruits have a lot more carbs & sugar) ... try to stick to leafy greens and crisp veggies like cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, celery, broccoli ... and for fruits, do apples, pears, grapefruits ... but like I said, keep fruits to a minimum. don't eat them every day.

if you're going to eat rice, eat brown rice, or better yet, eat quinoa.

and regarding meat, stick to white meats like chicken & turkey breast (not processed meats if you can help it), baked or sauteed in a pan ... or, you could do ground white breast meats or like turkey bacon, turkey or chicken sausage if you really want. white fish is good, too. salmon is okay, but it's fattier. try to stay away from eating shell fish (they are the cockroaches of the sea), but mostly stick to white poultry - you don't want to consume too much mercury from fish. if you really have to have some red meat, go w/ bison (buffalo) as it's a leaner meat & has less colesterol.

make sure you drink PLENTY OF WATER ... you are supposed to drink at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces.

really, just stick to a high protein, low carb diet. you can eat eggs (mostly whites), supplement some of one or two meals a day (try to eat five small meals a day to keep your metabolism moving) with a protein shake made w/ water, not milk (try not to drink or eat dairy if you can help it) and make sure to exercise regularly to keep healthy.

All fruits and veggies are good for you. Try to eat more brown rice then white. Chicken is healthy as long as it's not fried and fish is healthy. Try to limit red meat and if you do eat it, get lean cuts of meat. It tastes the same as fatty cuts if you cook it right.

Pretty much all fresh fruits & veggies are good for you. Try to stay with whole grains in your rice, breads, & pastas - much better than bleached or processed. Most meats are good as well, as long as you cook them healthy - stay away from fried or breaded meats, going for broiled or grilled instead. Stay away from sweets, caffene & too much bread........Otherwise just use a little common sense!

Eat bananas and peanuts.
brain: fish
stomach: bananas, ginger
cough: red pepper
diarrea: browned apple
Whiskey is good for a cold.

Here's my advice, having had years of experience with nutrition (having had served as Health Care Specialist in the Army and having had experimented with many diets myself):

FRUITS: Avoid mango and pinapple - too much sugar, there is something called a glycemix index, referring to how quickly a food's sugars enter the bloodstream in a human - and these fruits rank highest among their peers. Go for apples (especially with the peel, high fiber!), berries (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries), dark cherries over light cherries, and an occasional banana (high calorie for a fruit, but good source of potassium).

VEGETABLES: Go for yellow and dark green vegetables, they tend to be highest in vitamins. Iceberg lettuce is a waste of money, it's about as nutritious as water, go for butter lettuce, Bibb lettuce, Romaine lettuce and other lettuces. Bell peppers - red, yellow, green. Eat tomatoes, they have lycopene, an antioxidant and cancer-fighting nutrient. Cucumbers are good.

RICE: Rice tends to be starchy and full of carbohydrates. Grains high in fiber are best. Brown rice is better than white rice. Try wholegrain couscous (another kind of grain) in the place of rice; or try quinoa (also a grain, look for this one in a health food store). Directions for preperation are on the box/bag. Avoid potatoes, and if you must, go for a sweet potato, they pack a nutritious powerpunch.

MEATS: Eat lean cuts of meat. Go for chicken breast, or at the very least white meat over dark meat (less fat). Always take the skin off and decrease the calories and fat significantly. Broil, bake, boil it - just don't fry. Try not to bread it either. Fish - salmon is excellent, and a good source of heart-healthy amino acids. Go for tilapia, pollock and other lean fish. Avoid fatty, mercury-heavy fish like shark, eel, etc. Shrimp is great as a snack or in a home-made seafood gumbo. Pork tenderloin is good. Avoid ground pork, it's high in fat and calories. Go for lean cuts of beef - top round, eye of round, etc. Go for 92% lean ground beef. Buy meats labeled as "lean" on packaging. Ground turkey is the best, use it like you would ground beef or pork.

OTHER: I would suggest you go for a type of protein-enriched pasta called Barilla PLUS, it is in a white and yellow box in most grocery stores, and it is a much better option than white flour pastas, if you will be cooking with pasta.
