Freezing Fresh Peaches?!

Question:

Freezing Fresh Peaches?

What is the best way to freeze fresh peaches? What is the result when thawed? Will they be mushy? How long can they stay frozen before their quality is compromised?

Answers:
The most important thing is to have good firm and juicy peaches. Cut them and toss with a little bit of sugar and lemon juice. I freeze them for no longer than six months. The good thing about peaches is they hold their shape and defrost very well.

I have never frozen peaches before, because I was afraid they would brown and turn mushy, but I know people who have frozen them without any problems using a freezer bag.

Alton Brown has a show about this on the food network. You should go to their website & see if you can find it.

The best way is to peel and slice them(make sure they are ripe but firm), toss them with Fruit Fresh or ascorbic acid, and use a vaccum food saver. I would say 6 months would be the max before they start to lose flavor and quality. Most fresh fruit is good for 8-12 months if prepared and stored properly.

Put some "Fruit Fresh" on them before you put them in a big ziplock bag!

frozen fruits when thawed tend to get mushy afterwards, unless you boil them first

i slice them put them in the freezer when frozen i put the in a food savor bag and vacuum seal them i still have 1 bag left from last Aug. we enjoy them on cereal they are just like fresh peaches korkie
