What's your fave tomato?!
What's your fave tomato?
I like em all but when I make Italian I need my Romas!
Answers:
omg!
I LOVE tomatoes, all kinds.
(They're even listed in my 360 as an "interest." :P)
But my favorite would have to be cherry tomatoes. They're like bite-size so you can snack on 'em anytime.
Cherry tomatoes are my favorite. My second choice would be Romas.
The price of tomatoes are high. Go can !
Any tomato out of a garden in the summer. Boy howdy, mmm mmm. A lil' salt, some fresh cracked pepper is all I need. But couple that with some fresh Buffalo mozerrella and some fine Basalmic and fresh basil - well I might of just died and gone to heaven.
As far as store bought fresh - I use Roma also. They are hardier, tend to have good flavor and are very universal. Other than that I used good canned whole tomatoes for sauce.
Roma tomatoes of course!! It's firm, not too watery, nice-clean taste and holds it's shape well no matter which way you cut, slice or chop it.
my favorite tomatoes are any type of heirloom tomato, because they are super tasty, have unique flavor and shape characteristics, and have never been genetically modified or hybridized for yield or size. my absolute favorite heirloom is the brandywine - it is a giant tomato in a wonderful shade of dark pink with light green shoulders at the top - it is fleshy with few seeds, is slightly sweet with a bit of zing, and tastes fantastic by itself with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. super yum!
vine ripened
Sweet 100s. They are a kind of cherry tomato
I love grape tomatoes.
Marion Tomatoes
I love grape tomatoes b/c they are bite sized juicy sweetness!
cherry tomatoes are the best!
I love Romas and little Cherry tomatoes. My daughter eats the little ones like grapes.
The beefsteak varieties they had when I was a kid. They were huge (bigger than the bread if cut in cross-section) and juicy, and they didn't have that woody inner antler where the stem attaches, as they seem to nowadays.
When I make Italian I like to have the seeds in my sauce as well, and a like a nice tart sauce, instead of sweet, so I will use any ordinary round tomato (and not plum)...Early Girl or Early Bettys or such.
I like Romas too as they are more meaty than regular. But give me a heirloom like Mr. Stripey or one other one, I want to say King Crimson, it's a really deep purple.
grape tomatos rock!
Romas. They are the best to cook with all round. I also think they are the most flavorsome.
When preparing salad, my favorite tomato is the round, big one; but i love 'plump' tomato for sauce.
