Answers:
It's a great idea! Tigerfly is wrong - not all towns and villages have fish & chip shops. I live in a village that has a chip van that comes round once a week and it's a godsend to some of the older folk that live here. It's also handy as we quite often get power cuts down our street so at least we can get a hot meal!
Can't really answer your question though as I don't know how much it would cost but good luck to you!

But every town and village has a fish and chip shop. Where would you get the fresh fish from? How would you guarantee absolute freshness? Who is your target market - not families and the elderly that's for sure. How will you poach business from well established chippies? What would make you unique?

there is a reason for that
hot fat in a moving vehicle is not a good idea

Before kittting out your van check up on all the health and hygene regulations you will have to comply with

.

Whatever the basic cost, you will have to add on to it the considerable outlay of complying with the food hygiene regulations. http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2006/uksi_20...
I think that a fish and chip van is a great idea, but you would need complex washing, storage and refrigeration facilities in order to avoid being prosecuted by the local authority. I would approach them first before even thinking about buying a van to see just how strictly they enforce these regulations in your area. If you ever were to be prosecuted the fines would be very stiff and they could close you down. I don't wish to discourage you in any way, merely put you on the alert. After all, these kebab people must cope somehow.

It's hard to give a firm price as much depends on the quality of fittings, how many, etc. Try talking to :http://www.jiffytrucks.co.uk/home.htm... who are specialist in van conversions for catering.

You should make a fortune. Especially at fairs £3.50 for a Jacket Potato and Cheese. It will be cheap to do your van out if you go to the right places. You will need storage, a microwave, a fridge ,a oven and utensils. But I don't understand when you are driving around won't everything in the fridge fall out.

hate kebabs but thinking of this question is making me hungry wish u were outside with your van dont know the cost but could get u supplied with first class chips as I work in a potato/chip factory must go and put the chip-pan on
