What is a "sprig" of parsley?!

Question:

What is a "sprig" of parsley?

Does this include the leaves AND the stems? Or which? So confused...

Answers:
one leaflet. hard to explain. visualize one single stem..each has off-shoots- one single off-shoot is a sprig. with the stem clipped short...

One tiney twig, a tip ......or piece

Not the ENTIRE stalk, but a smaller stem and its leaves, aka, a leaflet.

"Sprigs" of parsley as usually called for in a recipe as a garnish. If that's the case, pinch of a stem where a few other stems branch off and use it decoratively on a plate.

If the recipe calls for a "few sprigs of parsley, chopped," or something to that effect to be added during cooking, take a few stems and remove the leaves, chop the leaves and discard the stems (or save them for a stock pot). Don't add chopped up parsley stems to dishes because, although they have a lot of flavor, they tend to be a little "woody."
