Pregnant- eating gammon?!

Question:

Pregnant- eating gammon?

Is this ok to eat. It's been cooked (was bought hot) but as gammon usually is it's very pink inside. I know you are not supposed to eat meats that are still pink inside when your pregnant. Any thoughts?

Answers:
Unless it was a non smoked gammon steak, and if was purchased hot, pork is no longer dangerous if eaten a bit pink, if the steak was smoked like for a breakfast fry up, then no problem, in Canada was refer to a raw pork chop or gammon steak as a pork chop, steak or cutlet. Anything smoked is called ham, whether it is a full piece, a rolled piece or process and made in a laf form for sandwiches.

The only concern for some who is expecting, is the salt and preservatives, but if you only eat it an occasion and not everyday, then you are fine.
