Why does my nose run when I am eating curries?!

Question:

Why does my nose run when I am eating curries?

Answers:
Must be the spices. The same thing happens with chilli too.

chillies are a natural decongestant and most curries contain chillies

curries are spicy

It is called gustatory rhinitis -- it means your nose runs when you eat spicy or very flavorful food. A lot of people have the same problem. Just carry a handerchef.

Remove Trainer, nose will stop running. It could walk.

And your feet smell. How bizarre is that! Must mean you're upside down...

I think its the spices, has the same affect with me. Great when you have a blocked nose though.

when i eat any hot food, my nose runs (i mean temperature heat) maybe the spices irritate your nose

Sorry I can't answer your question, I don't know but the same thing happens to me too.

the steam from the hot food opens up your sinises and that is why anyone who has sinuses should eat curries and spicy foods . I hope it doesnt drop in to the curry ( joking)

Its the hot spices and chilli's in the curry that cause a runny nose, great for a cold though really clears its out. Count yourself lucky when my Dad has hot curries he get very load hiccups (its embarrassing in a restaurant).
