Peanut Butter and Jelly, healthy or no?!

Question:

Peanut Butter and Jelly, healthy or no?

I use wheat bread, blackberry jelly, and peanut butter...would this be healthy? Or would it make me gain weight? I only eat one in the mornings. Sometimes I eat one for lunch, depending on what else I have.

Answers:
I've eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every school day of my life so far. The peanut butter has protein and the jelly is made from berries! So what if it has sugar? You can't help it and that bread, if whole wheat, bumps up the nutritional value. It's quite healthy indeed, so continue to eat it and enjoy it for the rest of your life (or until you ever get tired of it...which I won't)!

It's absolutely okay to have this sandwich the way that you are having it. Once a day will not hurt your body. Peanut butter is fattening but okay in limited portions. The jelly has alot of sugar and the bread is full of carbs. But, having this once a day will be okay. Just dont over exceed and you wont gain weight.

Anything is bad for you if you eat large amounts!

As long as you limit it to one a day or maybe even 2 on occasion, it is healthy... and delicious!!!!

Yes its healthy, peanut butter is a good sourse of protien, I eat peanut butter/jelly sandwiches @least 3-4 x,s a week myself.

protein and whole grains - can't be too bad, in moderation

In general, a bit of any food is OK. peanuts are high in protein, but also have oils and added fats in most peanut butters.
A minor note on peanuts and peanut butter: they contain a tiny amount of aflatoxin, which is a known carcinogen. This is the only carcinogen I know of that is permitted by the US FDA in food in measurable quantities. Don't let it put you off eating peanut butter and jelly, though.

not everyday

hi

Peanut butter and jelly are healthy,Its a great Iron and protein combination.

It contains a lot of sugar, and some fat from the peanut butter, but in moderation it should be fine.
