Do you have to can pickles within 24 hours of picking the cucumber?!

Question:

Do you have to can pickles within 24 hours of picking the cucumber?

Answers:
No, but you should do it soon. My mom usually picks them and cans them right away. You dont want them to stay out too long and become soft. If you have to put them in the fridge, but only for a little bit

Nope, although fresh is better.

It is wise to do so, but its not absolutely necesarry.

I like kosher sour pickles that are refrigerated in brine, not canned.

I can my as soon as I can but when I have too many for that day, or am temporarily out of jars or lids, I put them in the vegetable crisper overnight. I get them done the next day though. I dont think I have ever let them go more than 48 hours. I do save left over pickling mix but usually use it within 2-4 days. I leave it in the frig.
