Does milk thistle really prevent hangovers?!
Does milk thistle really prevent hangovers?
I have heard so, and some websites that I have found also agreed. But has anyone tried it? How many miligrams should you take before drinking that night?
Answers:
No, it doesn't.
Milk thistle is supposedly a "tonic" for the liver, which processes alcohol. People say it's good to take milk thistle as a daily supplement to keep your liver in good health, so that when you do drink it's able to process the alcohol better. I couldn't find any published scientific data that suggests that milk thistle really helps, though.
The best thing to help prevent or alleviate a hangover is to stay well-hydrated. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after consuming alcohol. Avoid combining alcohol and caffeine (like in Coke or Red Bull), because caffeine is a diuretic and dehydrates you.
Not drinking prevents hangovers.....and alcoholism.
There is only one way to prevent a hangover: do not drink alcohol.
No, it does not prevent hangovers. Sorry, but it is true.
Best prevention is to stop drinking one hour before everyone else.
This question was on Oprah when Dr. OZ was on her show. When your out drinking make sure you drink water after every drink to keep you hydrated. When you get home you will want to take an asprin & drink a 8oz glass of water before going to bed.
