How long do coconuts last for?!

Question:

How long do coconuts last for?

I want to buy some coconuts for a special project a week in advance - will they be okay? I will be opening them and don't want them to be mouldy! Also, where are the best places to look this time of year, I haven't seen any in local green-grocers - will big stores like Tesco stock them?

Answers:
I'm not sure about opened ones. But I had an unopened one in my house for 2 years. I could never decide what the heck I was going to do with it.

u can keep a cococnut for longer time without breaking it.

The product shelf life is 75 days after day of shipment . So expect from the time the coconuts gets from the retailers shelf to you, it has about 2-3 weeks left. Always store the young coconuts in the refrigerator, and they will keep the longest.

They don't last that long.
And not at all if opened.

This is the coconut season. For green coconuts.
Indian shops have them in plenty. Not green ones. The brown ones that have white coconut inside. If you shake them, you can hear the water. The more the better.
They last longer .
And stay OK in cool places if not broken open too early..
