Do can food expire?!

Question:

Do can food expire?

Answers:
Commercially prepared canned food has a fairly long shelf life. The length of time that you can safely keep canned food depends on the type of food. You can store high-acid foods, such as tomatoes and fruit juice, for up to 18 months. Low-acid foods, such as vegetables and meat, can be stored for two to five years.

Always check the expiration date on canned food. Food dating isn't required by law but is done voluntarily by food manufacturers. So, a retailer may legally sell foods past the expiration date on the can as long as the product is wholesome.

Be sure to examine cans before purchasing. Do not purchase or open cans that are dented, leaking or bulging or show any signs of tampering ― which can indicate a serious food poisoning threat. Also, don't use canned food that spurts liquid or has a foul odor when you open it. In such cases, throw the can and the food away. These guidelines apply to home-canned foods as well.

yes, they usually have an expiration date on the can

i think it does

Yes and you could be the proud host of botulism if you don't trust me...........

YES

Yes, but they have a long shelf life. Acidic foods like tomatoes and fruit don't last as long because the acid will start to eat away at the can. But you don't have to worry about botulism; they killed anything that could have been in the food when they processed it, so a long time on the shelf won't bring it back to life.

Yes, most can food has an expiration date on it.

yes can foods do expire if you check the top of each can you will see the expiration date sometimes its on the sides even on the bottom.

yes....and i suggest you learn english....does can food expire

Yes, they do. If you can't find a "best by" date printed on the can or its label, look for a toll-free number to call the manufacturer. They will ask you for the code on the can (a string of numbers or numbers and letters). If you read that code slowly and clearly to them, they will tell you the "best by" date.

yes I can't think of any food that doesn't expire

it does

YES BUT
dates on the can are removal from the store dates
If the swells no good
If the food stinks no good if anything that resembles mold NG
Common sense rules..
Todays cans are plastic lined and any joints are not sealed with lead anymore.

After a very long time they do. If there is no expiration date on the can, checkj out its texture and smell it before you eat it. Most of them have an expiration date on the can. And some have a BEST BEFORE dtae on the can. best before means this is whne they are most fresh. But it still is good for about a month after that date.

no matter what the date on the can- check for dents and swollen cans. When you open it if it seemed to have pressure inside- do not eat it. also smell it first- smell funny? return it.

Yup...but not as fast as normal un-canned food. Some lasts for more than 10 years.

Many canned products now have a "for best quality use by" date stamped on the top or bottom of the can. "Expiration" dates are rarely found on canned food.

Canned food has a shelf life of at least two years from the date of processing. Canned food retains its safety and nutritional value well beyond two years, but it may have some variation in quality, such as a change in color and texture.

In a well-run supermarket, foods on the shelf will be rotated on a regular basis, so there is continuous turnover. However, if you want to learn the date a particular product was packed, some food companies use a series of numbers or letters that may contain a date. To "break the code," call the toll-free number or write to the address on the product. According to one manufacturer, its product code of 81382 indicates it was packed in 1998 (the first number, eight, is the year), on the 138th day (middle three numbers), by the second shift (the last number is two). The codes may differ from one processor to another. To be certain, call the company.
