Tap water and parranoia?!

Question:

Tap water and parranoia?

Is there any valid reason to avoid tap water? Do you drink tap water yourself?

I've heard it's good for you as it builds your system against bacteria found in hard water - the stuff from the tap. Is this true?

Answers:
In the UK you won't build up any resistance to bacteria as it is so highly treated it is v clean. There is no difference between hard water and soft water in that respect. In India you can get a stomach bug just from brushing your teeth if you have not been brought up on it.

Tap water is fine, just as good as any bottled water.

Our tap water tastes like the smell of dirt...and I'm guessing tastes like it, too, but I've never actually eaten the dirt to compare it.

Regardless, I drink filtered water, it tastes cleaner.

i have drunk tap water all my lifeand it hasnt done me any harm. ad for helping you immune system, i very rarely get ill so maybe

There is bacteria in tap water, lots of it. There's flouride and stuff too. If you can stand the taste, go for it.

I do NOT drink my tap water, owing to the high mineral and sodium content in it

bologna.

filtered water can be better for you as it gets rid of pollutants. however, tap water contains flouride (goverments idea) thus pros and cons for you 2 decide :) x

It differs per country as far as I know. We in holland are supposed to have just about the cleanest tap water there is, but i believe they add chloride and fluorite or whatever the correct translation... so that makes me wonder how healthy it is actually...

there is nothing wrong with drinking tap water i drink it all the time, happy drinking

I never drink tap water, and I am a biologist. I drink filtered water, bottled water only! Tap water is usually safe to drink, I just can not handle the taste of it.

don't know... what i've heard is that it is better than bottled water cause the govt. has to keep it clean and drinkable... unlike bottled which is made by corporations...

I drink tap water every day and I'm still OK.

Tap water builds character.

i love tap water

Tap water is ok. Its got lots of recycled vitamins and minerals and medicine in it so you should stay healthy. Ive been drinking it for years. Its cheaper than the bottled stuff as well. I think the ad men are trying to convince us that tap water is bad so well buy the bottled stuff.

it depends where do you live at..
I live in So. Florida and I drink tap water all the time. there is no need to be paranoid if you want more info on your local area H2O just go to the local county or city website and take a look under the water authority dept.

I filter my tap water - it tastes better and I can store it in the fridge - I hate room temperature water.

tap water is fine ......let it run from the tap for a minute or two so that is fresh.............no problems

I've drunk tap water all my life, and it's only been fatal twice so far!

Tap water won't kill you if you drink it, so if you choose to, then more power to you. I however refuse to drink it because it tastes like crap. If you want a good bottled water to drink, try Fiji brand, it's the most clean tasting water I've ever had.

In the UK tap water is OK to drink so no need to avoid it. I do drink it sometimes but as I don't like the taste I prefer to use a filter jug for drinking water and the kettle.

Things you'll find in your tap water. Fluoride, a cancer causing chemical, extremely toxic. Chlorine, a cancer causing chemical, extremely toxic to humans, plants and animals. Heavy metals in some areas due to ground water contamination. Other areas are contaminated with pesticides and many other chemicals. It's not paranoia, it's something you need to deal with. Get educated about what's happening with your water supply.

I do not drink tap water. We do buy bottled Spring Water after investigating who wasn't trying to rip the public off. For the home we have water filters on all spigots in the house.

I drink tap water all the time as you are required to drink at least 3 litres a day. The area I live in is predominantly hard water which can cause a build up of calcium in you body but as for bacteria no. You are far more likely to suffer from bacteria from bottled water as the bottled water could be stored for a long period of time in incorrect conditions prior to you drinking it. The main disadvantage with hard water is that it damages white goods quicker with a build up of calcium on the elements i.e Boiler, kettle, washing machine. You will also use more soap in hard water as it is more difficult to achieve a lather. Believe me when I say this tap water in the UK is of the highest quality for consumption. Very clever marketing/imaging has made it chic to drink bottled water. The profit in bottled water is phenomenal and is worth millions to the respective suppliers. Finally all the food you consume is cooked in tap water, beer / soft drink you consume, tap water.

Theres nothing wrong with corperation pop!! Go get yourself a glass - and happy drinking!!!
