The best of both worlds is to boil the chicken first as suggested, then fry it in the batter. This stops the chicken from soaking up so much grease because it only has to be fried until golden brown.
Step 1 - brine your chicken to get flavor on the inside.
I don't measure when doing this, you are really just looking to make a flavorful water for the chicken to soak in - but here's some estimates.
Get a big bowl or zipper bag & put the chicken in, then fill with water,
1/4 cup salt,
4 tbsp of pepper,
2 tbsp thyme,
3 tbsp garlic powder or garlic salt,
3 tbsp onion powder,
1/4 tsp of sugar (brown or white)
if you like spicy add some chili powder - not too much if you have kids & put it covered in the fridge for 30 mins - the longer the soak the more flavor it will take on - so doing this the night before is awesome. Then boil & fry.

is he black?

Better than fried but is crispy and great. Boil the chicken for about 25 minutes(hard, rolling boil) Meanwhile preheat your oven to 350. When the boil is done, place the chicken on flat pan, sprinkle sea salt(or whatever you have) and a few spices, whatever you like and bake it for the next 30 - 40 minutes. The skin gets crisp and the meat is tender!

2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt

Clean chicken and let dry slightly.

heat vegetable oil to about 340 - 350 degrees. Coat chicken pieces in flour mixture and place in oil. Cook chicken on one side for 10 minutes. Turn chicken over and cook for another 15 - 20 minutes. Remove from heat, drain oil from chicken.

good luck!!!

That was ignorant to ask if he was black. My cousin is white and he loves fried chicken maybe it's his black wife I don't know... Anyways

*drums and thighs take longer to cook than wings and breast.

Recipe: Fried chicken with cheddar rice and broccoli
season the chicken with season salt and pepper

batter it by pouring flour in the bag and taking a few pieces at a time and drop it in the bag (your vegetable oil should be warming)

then test the grease but sprinkling a bit of flour in the pot to see if it sizzles if it does began adding the chicken and turn down the heat.

once it browns take it out, not too brown...check the inside make sure there is no red inside.

The cheddar rice and broccoli already come prepared in the bag. Just look around you local grocery store for Betty Crocker or something. Good luck I hope he likes it wether he is black or white.

I'm too late, I'm sure. I hope it came out well. I soak the chicken first in buttermilk that I add a couple dashes of tabasco sauce to. I combine 3 cups flour, 2 tsp salt, 2 tsp pepper, 2 tsp paprika, 2 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp oregano then I divide the mixture into two pie plates. I take the chicken pieces from the buttermilk and dredge it in the first plate, put it back in the buttermilk then into the second plate, shake off all excess then let the pieces set on a cookie sheet for a few minutes to make sure the crust becomes set. I double dip because I like the thicker crunchier crust I get. I fry it at 375 degrees in a big cast iron skillet, 10 minutes, turn for another 10 minutes and turn again to stop it from getting too brown. I put it on a cookie rack so that it doesn't sit in the grease after I remove it from the pan. Just in case you want to make it again :o).
