Dinner is taken in the evening. In some places, it's called supper. Lunch is taken at lunchtime, of course.

alot of people i know call lunch dinner ..

lunch is in the afternoon, the mid-day meal. dinner varies from place to place, but most commonly it is eaten in the evening.

In the United Kingdom, dinner traditionally meant the main meal of the day. Because of differences in custom as to when this meal was taken, dinner might mean the evening meal (typically used by people in the south) or the midday meal (typically used by people in the north, who describe their evening meal as tea).

A more formal definition of "dinner", especially outside North America, is any meal consisting of multiple courses.

This formal version of the meal is generally served in the evening, starting at some time between 7.30 and 8.30 (in the Netherlands, however, typically at 6). It may be served at midday or shortly afterwards; this tends, however, to be more typical of Scotland than of other countries. In Spain, where lunch is eaten relatively late, dinner is typically served late in the evening, no earlier than 9 or 10 p.m.

In Australia and most parts of the United States and Canada, dinner is the evening repast served around 6 to 7 p.m.

Dinner is the main meal of the day served in the evening or at midday. Dinner at midday is often followed by supper in the evening. Lunch is a midday meal that's not the main meal of the day.

I think dinner refers to the ''big" or "main" meal of the day. When I was youger and most Mom's stayed at home the large meal of the day (meat & potatoes) was at noon. We called this dinner, and the meal at 5 o'clock was supper. Now we tend to eat the large meal in the evening - dinner, and the smaller meal at noon - lunch.

In Yorkshire it's always been dinner for the midday meal and tea for the evening meal.

It's an evening meal. Some people eat dinner as early as 3:00. But I don't know if that's a late lunch or an early dinner. Maybe you could call it lunner.

I think it depends on how old you are. My father referred to the noon time meal as dinner and the evening meal as supper. My mom's parents were the same. To us "kids" it's lunch at noon and dinner in the evening.

Dinner is the last meal of the day.
