Does anybody remember Rice Cremola??!

Question:

Does anybody remember Rice Cremola??

My mum used to give it to me as a desert. Iv asked other people and theyv never heard of it! (Or did i dream it all up?)

Answers:
Yes you did - Rice Cremola is a common hallucination associated with high LSD usage.

No, you didn't dream it- it was lovely, especially with a spoonful of jam in the middle.
Whatever happened to that stuff?

No You didn't dream it up, I used to love it too! I think it is Grenola. A cross between custard and rice.

It is flavoured ground rice, but i'm not sure with what, it was vanilla,buttery,custardy flavour, brought in a packet. You could make it quickley in a saucepan with boiling milk or make it up and bake it with butter or add it to cake mixtures for a heavier,richer cake

No you're not dreaming. There was a lot of talk about this within the last yer or two because the company stopped making it. Don't know if anyone else started production or not

.

Yum!
Here's the recipe. (made just like custard)
Make in saucepan to start and then transfer to the oven

Ingredients
* 2 heaped tablespoons of ground rice
* 1 rounded tablespoon of custard powder
* 1 dessertspoon of sugar if desired
* half teaspoon of vanilla essence
* 1 pint (500ml) milk
* butter or margarine, goes on top when put in the oven 190c until brown
* ground nutmeg to garnish

never heard of it.

Wasn't it wonderful.........all other answers have made me hungry so I'm off to the kitchen to get out the ground rice etc......

Funny thing - I was only talking about this today & was trying to find out where to get some! I used to have it when I was younger & loved it. Thanks for the recipe will try it out but not sure it could ever taste as good - (hope so though!).
