Can you store food in its original can?!

Question:

Can you store food in its original can?

if you only eat half a can of pineapple or tomatoes, can you just leave them in the can & put in the fridge for later use?

Answers:
When the can is closed, all of the air has been removed, but once the can is opened and the air is allowed to come in contact with the food, there is a reaction between acidic food and the air and the metal. It can cause the growth of many bad bacterias including botulism, which is deadly. (that is why they say never buy or eat dented cans, in case there is a pinhole in it). So anything that is in a can, the leftovers should be transferred into a glass or plastic container, preferably with a lid.

no, it can break down and become posionous, empty it out and put it in a sealed container.

no, you should pour the rest in a bowl and cover

Don't put canned food in the fridge once it has been opened as it will oxidise which can be dangerous to your health.

No. For longer life transfer it to a plastic or glass container with lid.

Don't put unfinished can food in the fridge, food not properly covered with have bacterial growing in it fast. Better remove leftover food from the can and store in a dry plastic container, place in the fridge and use it up as soon as possible.
