I am a vegetarian, mainly because I dont like the way the animals are treated but all of those diseases just back my decision to say no to meat.
=]
EDIT: I get my protein by eating soy products, beans, nuts, seeds, and some dairy foods.
I quit several years ago for different reasons, but hearing the diseases sure helps reinforce vegetarianism. Can't complain, at least I'm no longer a "weirdo" as more and more people do so.
Alway cook meat will done but not to will done . [not burnt]
No I haven't decreased my consumption of meat. I am still an unabashed Carnivore. I've even eaten Canadian beef in Canada, where Mad Cow Disease was more prevalent than here in the USA and have lived to tell about it.
Haven't heard of Whirling Fish Disease...
When it comes to the safety of meat products, I suppose you COULD resort to Vegetarianism but wasn't there a scare just last summer about unsafe spinach and bagged salad greens...? I finally lived to see the day when spinach was considered "bad for you"!! A kid's dream come true...
Use common sense when shopping for meat and research the suppliers of the meat you want to buy. If it doesn't smell right, then don't buy it.
my faith, my hope is in the Lord, what shall I fear?
I pray over my food, before i eat, even in restaurants.
and no I have not changed my eating habits out of fear.
Don't think to much about diseases I just look at the price.
We don't eat much meat and when we do it's CHICKEN..
I hate CHICKEN..
CHICKEN>>CHICKEN>>>CHICKEN...!
I think I'll go lay an egg now..
Hey,I'm still waiting for West Nile Virus and the Bird Flu to kick in.In the meantime I just Barbqued the greatest ,fattiest Tri-tip roast tonight.Holy Moley!Santa maria seasoning and finished it with KC Masterpiece sauce!
I have been less prone to give in to a rare steak because
e-coli is definitely more common than the above mentioned plagues, and totally avoidable if meat is thoroughly cooked. Mostly I would like to avoid the cholesterol. I wish I remembered to say Grace before every bite. I know I would probably skip that ice cream I am about to get if I really prayed first.
I dont know the right answer, but i am sure one day we will change as the world changes around us...
