Silicone bakewear?!

Question:

Silicone bakewear?

How safe is it? Is there any chance of chemicals leaching into the food?

Answers:
Silicone bakewear uses a proprietary formula of silicone designed specifically for baking. They do not use any fillers, which compromise the performance of the baking and may breakdown from the heat. It meets all FDA requirements. Their Silicone Bakeware and Accessories pass the "Twist Test". Bend or Twist any piece of Silicone, if white appears, there is filler being used along with the Silicone, compromising the heat resistance, stability and performance.

Teflon (nonstick) coated pans have been used for years and it is just recently being proven that the chemicals are being leached into our food.

Aluminum is also being proven dangerous in cooking food, especially acidic foods like tomato sauce.

Yes, the FDA passed silicon as food safe (just as they did Teflon and aluminum all those years ago), but in my opinion not enough testing has been done. I'll continue to use traditional bakewear even though the silicon products would make baking somewhat easier. It's just not worth the possible risk to me. As they say, better safe than sorry!
