Do you need to wash the blueberries you buy from grocery?!

Question:

Do you need to wash the blueberries you buy from grocery?

or is it already clean in that little plastic box?

Answers:
ALWAYS WASH YOUR FRUITS AND VEGGIES.

Yes wash them. You just never know!

I do just to be safe!

They are sprayed with pesticides so washing is recommended.

Always, always wash your fruits & veggies! All kinda of bacteria are on there!

Yes, wash them and check the basket of berries for bits of stem or other debris that might have made it in there! You don't want to be biting into something that isn't a berry.

Always wash fruits and veggies, I like the citrus based veggie spray because it's quick and effective.

don't take a risk. wash the blueberries to be safe. you never know.

Saw a news story about washing fruits and veggies...most people believe that fruits in those containers are already washed...they aren't. Plus, whenever the store waters them (if they are kept in that section) they get all kinds of stuff on them like dirt, dust, etc. Always wash your veggies. With blueberries i've heard it is best to lay them on a papertowel and run them under the sink faucet, then wipe off any access water. Yum!

I do, too many e-coli scares. Remember the spinach! I thought it would never come back to market.

you should always wash fruits you get, like blueberries, strawberries, apples, pears, etc. because even if they had been washed, they may not have been thoroughly clean, plus bugs sometimes sneak into the things, so you don't want to wind up eating a blueberry and a fly :P

why the fu@$ not

Absolutely, positively, always wash your fruits and veggies. Just because they may be organic, certified that no pesticides were ever used, and placed in plastic DOES NOT MEAN that there may not be things on them that you do not want to eat.

Just because it is in plastic does not mean it was thoroughly washed. The spinach that carried the most recent e-coli outbreak was in plastic. Pesticides may have been blown by the wind from another farm onto your organics. It's the same thing for dirt. Finally, many organic farms use certain insects to hunt and eat other crop-destroying insects. Both types of insect will eventually take a crap. Guess where they often do it ....

So, are you going to wash the fruits and veggies now?

absolutely...always wash berries right before using or they will mold on you.

Always wash your fruits / veggies/ lettuce before using....if going to freeze blueberries , no need to wash or they'll go soggy when going to freeze*
pat dry with paper towel after rinsing the blueberries*before serving~

yes because they still have being touch by other people

You need to wash ALL fruits and vegetables no matter where you purchased them. Including bananas, because you handle the peeling as you eat it. They are shipped to us in crates, these crates get tse tse flies and other insects in them and they do defecate on the fruit, even if you do not see it, it is there.

ya always wash your fruits!!!

It's always a good idea to wash produce before consuming it.
