Why do marshmallows fizz when you add them to hot chocolate?!

Question:

Why do marshmallows fizz when you add them to hot chocolate?

Answers:
They don't really fizz. Actually it's more like hot chocolate getting inside the empty air pockets of the Marshmallows. When you think about it, Marshmallows are made out of sugar and mostly air. All that is happening is the air bubbles escaping. I suppose you could call that reaction, "fizzing."

mine don't. you need to return them, something's not right.

they do?
