Chips and gravy?!
Chips and gravy?
from the chip stuff - is this a northern thing, i love it from the local chip shop where I live but i went down south (devon to be exact) for a holiday and the local chip shops didn't do it. is it a northern thing or just not a devonshire thing?

What? a chip shop with no gravy? tut tut. i hope you educated them in the art of food lol
ooo chips n gravy n mushy peas ooo
lol
It is available down south, but not everywhere. You need a very select chippy for that! Its lovely though, I agree.
Think it`s just a northern thing, i love it especially from our best local chippy "Tates".......
we like it in Wales, and often top it with cheese - delicious!!!
northern thing. i used to live in london and we all thought the idea of gravy on chips was disgusting, but now i live up north i love stuff.
It could be a northern thing if they dont do this in Devon. How many chips shops did you try. Keep hunting around, maybe someone does it somewhere. To be honest, where i live in birmingham, i dont think they do chips and gravy. You can get fish and chips, sausage and chips, pastie and chips but not gravy and chips.
You might have to mix up some gravy yourself and put it over your chips.
we have it in south wales but chips cheese and gravy!!
It is a Northern thing, but some chip shops down here (I'm a Devon lass) do it. Cheesy chips and chips with curry sauce are more popular here.
Never had chips with gravy, but enjoy both.Yes could be a Northern thing.
yes its a northern thing. my family from the south love to get REAL chips when they're up here!
They do that in New Hampshire also. It's big in Canada too. Nothing better than putting cheese with it.
It's the same with Rock salmon, all london chippies sell it,but go to Devon and they don't.
I love it too and i live in bristol , they do it here. Must just vary from different chip shops i guess........mmm now i want some grr lol
Northern thing!
I'm in Suffolk and I don't know of any chippies that do gravy round here. I love chips and gravy though x
I'm a southerner but LOVE chips and gravy. The only place you can buy it down here that I know of is in the Chinese. It's definitely more of a Northern thing unfortunately.
Its just a nothern thing as are steak puddings. You try to order them (even in Wales) and they look at you as though you are stupid. Just how did you cope without your chips & gravy?
Definitely northern thing I live in Leeds but work away alot so I'm always travelling the country and have to say its very rare to find gravy and chips down south the most peculiar chip shop I have ever been in only sold fish and chips no gravy, peas, curry sauce or even a bloody bread cake the best chip shops are in Scotland they sell everything including battered pizzas. another thing you don't find everywhere is spam but don't get me started on that !!
i live in kent and we always get chips and gravey down here and chips and curry sauce and cheesy chips. mmmmm!
Oooh, Northern Boys love gravy, not for the ponces down South.
You can get it down South now but I know there were more varieties up North. Blackpool seemed to do chips and gravy with cheese!
Well, I've lived in Dolgellau (Wales), Nottingham, and Edinburgh, and it's popular in all those places. Admittedly the second two kind of count as northern.
I live in Devon and you are right - we don't really go in for that down here. In fact in Totnes we'd be more likely to have falafels or tofu hahaha
Hi i am from Staffordshire and that's what i always had from my local chippy.I now live in London and they don't sell it in chip shops here.
Unfortunately it does seem to be a northern thing, same as mushy peas n chips
