How long does flaxseed meal last before it goes bad?!

Question:

How long does flaxseed meal last before it goes bad?

I bought a bag of grounded flaxseeds and I'm wondering how long it will last while its refridgerated. Thank you!

Answers:
Because of the amount of fat/oil contained in flax seed, there's a higher chance that it can go rancid. Ground flaxseed is especially susceptible since grinding the seed obviously opens it up and releases all the oils. By refrigerating it, you can keep it up to around 90 days.

If you have a coffee grinder, mortar and pestle, or a spice grinder, you might consider buying whole flax seeds next time and grinding as you need them. The meal will be much fresher this way, and you can store whole seeds at room temperature for as long as a year.
