What exactly does a "continential breakfast" consist of?!

Question:

What exactly does a "continential breakfast" consist of?

We are going away for five days and the hotel supplies a FREE continential breakfast. What exactly does that consist of? Just juice, and donuts or what? Thanks and God bless.

Answers:
WHY on earth the decided to call it continental is beyond me (unless because the people in Europe don't generally have those large breakfasts that many Americans seem to like) so it became Continental.

To answer the question, it's generally almost anything that's usually cold such as juice, donuts/rolls, butter/jelly, possibly toast and usually it offers HOT coffee and tea. SOME of those hotels who advertise FREE Continental breakfasts also offer cold cereal and milk and many also have fresh fruit and sometimes yogurt. If you're REALLY lucky, they may even have a limited selection of HOT items such as scrambled eggs (in bulk of course and not made to order) and hot cereal (such as grits or oatmeal, maybe in instant individual packet form)--technically NOT Continental but hey, accept whatever you get and take those items that most interest you for breakfast.

Happy hotel traveling and God bless you as well.

Just juice, coffee, milk, and some type of donuts. Call the place you are staying to make sure. Also if you do not get there early, there is nothing left to eat.

Usually cold foods - cereal and if you're lucky, toast and muffins. You might get some fruit as well.

croissants and coffee

cr.ap huh

Coffee and a sweet roll.

It normally consists of eggs, bacon, waffles, fruit, drinks, etc. It is normally served in a buffet style. And it is very good.

Juice, coffee, an assortment of pasteries, a bread roll, and some fruit

usually:

fruit, cereal, yogurt (not always) and a bread of some sort...

also, juices, milk and water...

coffee and a roll...and i don't need a blessing for telling you that.

Usually bagels, donuts and coffee.

it's free so it doesn't cover much. Usually milk juice, cereals, donuts. I've stayed places that have instant oatmeal too.

Usually donuts, juice, coffee, milk, sometimes bagels, jams, jellies, cream cheese, toast, dry cereal and some places even have waffles. If you truly want to know call your hotel and ask. We usually try to stay at those w/cont. breakf. as we have kids and it makes it easier than eating out, you may take it to your room, and it's one less meal expense.

Pastry, Jam/ Marmalade, fruits and coffee. ?

Toast, Juice and coffee for the most part. Some hotels will provide croissants, muffins, bagutte or sweet rolls too, but usually only the high end places where you are already paying a premium for the room to begin with. It is usually a good idea to book your vacations as all inclusive as then all three meals come with the room, but if you are only spending a night or two then you take what ya get!

You just get the bare bones with Continential breakfast. Juice, milk, coffee, cold cereal, sometimes instant oatmeal and/or grits and pastries. They usually say "Breakfast Buffet or Bar" when they offer the whole bacon and eggs bit.

Coffee & rolls
& sometimes Milk to
& Orange Juice.

It's usually coffee, tea, juice and pastries (that usually includes bagels). You can call your hotel and ask them what their's consists of, they won't mind, you will be a paying guest. Have a good time on your vacation.
