Is this a healthy dinner?!

Question:

Is this a healthy dinner?

One thin barbeque chicken breast
Some mashed potatoes [hungry jack]
Peas

Answers:
This is a healthy dinner, the chicken breast is protein, the mashed potatoes supply vitamin c and potassium and the peas are a healthy source of fibre and vitamins.

YES!!! just add a glass of water with lemon

Sure, sounds great!

Anything is good when it is limited.
ENJOY THAT CHICKEN BREAST

ya pretty much but try adding veggies like carrots

It's not unhealthy.

Ideally it would include more veggies, but I don't see a problem with it. (provided you didn't use a lot of butter on the potatoes.)

yeah not bad...don't have too many potatoes though...a mountain of potatoes is never a good idea....otherwise enjoy :-)

this is perfect. Hopefully portions are the good size!!

Sounds pretty good to me.

No. The mashed potatoes are likely loaded with salt and butter (as they are not homemade), which in unhealthy. The peas are a bad choice of vegetable because they are a starchy vegetable, and you have already chosen to eat a starch (the potatoes).

Not necessarily - and it sounds boring.

You do have protein with the chicken breast. The mashed would have more nutrient value if they were from fresh taters, but do give you carbohydrates (what are you planning to put in/on the potatoes? It makes a world of difference.) And you have some green veggie.

I'd like to see you put a green leafy vegetable in there in place of the peas - or in addition to - along with some yoghurt, milk or other dairy product, and maybe some fresh fruit (blueberries would be good).

protien and carbs are always a good choice. However a skinless chicken breast is better for you than one with skin. As for the mashed potatoes, try replacing them with a more complex carbohydrate. Something like brown rice would be much more healthy for you in the long run. The pea's are nice, but cooked veggies tend to lose some of their nutrition so replace the peas with nice green salad, and just make sure you don't overdose on salad dressing. All in all your dinner sounds more healthy than a bowl of Frosted Flakes for dinner.

It depends on how much mashed potatoes as well as what you put on the taters and peas. Ideally for the most nutritional value I would think that a baked potato with low fat toppings would be better for you (and would probably taste better too). However, as long as you are not eating much of the mashed potatoes and they are not swimming in butter or gravy, I would say it's an ok meal. There are websites where you can put in your meal and they will tell you exactly how much fat, calories, and nutrients you are getting. If you are trying to eat healthier that might be helpful for you.

Your chicken is great and it didn't have to be thin you could have the entire chicken breast.
The Peas are great; however, the potatoes would be a negative instead of white mashed try a baked sweet potato instead.
You should have a little salad with fresh squeezed juice as your salad dressing....be creative w/ your salads.

superb appetizer indeed!!!!
now whats the main course?

try making the potatoes with 99% fat free chicken broth instead of alot of salt and butter and add another veggie and a slice of wheat bread or wheat roll to even it out a little.

yes very healthy, and now its time for breakfast .
