What annoys you the most about cooking shows?!

Question:

What annoys you the most about cooking shows?

What techniques do TV cooks have that annoy the hell out of you? Mine are:

1. The idea that sprinkling salt and pepper on everything is considered seasoning(where's the Goya seasoning, the adobo...?).

2. When they add unnecessary fat to dishes(you don't need sour cream in your french toast batter, and you don't need a stick of butter in your macaroni and cheese).

3. When they take the meal out of the oven, when it's obviously not done(steak can be rare, but chicken is NOT supposed to have blood dripping out of it, nor should it still be clucking on the plate).

Answers:
I agree with 1 and 2. As to 3, I think, even before the studioo audience arrives, the chef starts a dish of the recipe that will be created on T.V. so that the chef can take it out of the oven and show the studio audience how wonderful it is.

However, my pet peeve is when they never tell you the precise amounts of ingredients or how long to cook, but allow you to order that information for a price.

One of my clients shot a pilot for Food TV.

when they constantly repeat "Ok." i hate it

when they use ingredients that i cant find or afford.

I definately agree with you. I also hate it when they make those stupid faces and stuff when they taste the food...Like its the absolute most heavently dish thats ever been on the face of the earth! Lol.

I get sad that when I do like something I can not smell it or taste it.

When they make things that look nice but taste horrible--I could name a chef or two but I'd rather not call them out... just look at their recipe ratings.

And when they make you hunt down 20 different ingredients or obscure appliances.

The fact that they assume that we know what ingredients are or they do things so fast that I can't keep up. While they are talking, they could have the recipe on the screen so we could keep up.

What annoys me the most is one particular show, i wont name names, but it seems that whenever the Foodnetwork had nothing better, they use this guy. he has a band. the worst part is his audience, they act like late night informercial audience, all grins and fake enthusiasm.

When they go too fast that you cannot follow along.
When they make something with really wierd ingredients that you would have a hard time finding.
When they seem to skip things, go to commercial & it's like they missed something so you are all confused.

Drives me crazy when they start "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing over their own food before it's even gone into their mouth. Just once, it would be refreshing to see someone (like a person who's last name rhymes with "day") take a bite and say, "well, maybe a bit less salt next time." And how often do you actually see her swallow what she puts in her mouth? Same thing for a certain host of a show that highlights hotels on the Travel Channel. I've never seen her swallow anything she bites into.

What's that one chick's name that does $40 a day? She also has her own cooking show. What ANNOYS me is the fact that everything she tastes is scrumptious! I know not every place she has traveled to has made a pleasing meal. If she was served up some dog poo, I wonder . . . would she give the same reaction? And now she has the audacity to have a daytime "talk show" is it me, or is that corny?!

when they act phony.

My pet peeve concerning cooking shows is that they have every ingredient they need. They don't have to run to the store for spices and some obscure item called for in the recipe.Normal people can't stock their kitchen that well because it would cost a small fortune.
