or so i hear...True?


Answers:
Only true if the apple makes you less hungry and you don't eat as much of the burrito as before.

The apple can't magically reduce the fat or calories in the burrito, nor will it prevent your body from digesting them, so, overall, false.

Everything in moderation...that subject line made me hungry!

Are you asking if the apple will get you fat or if eating it before the burrito will prevent the burrito from getting you fat?

The simple weight gain formula is that you'll gain weight by consuming more calories than you burn off in a day. An apple isn't going to decrease the amount of fat or calories that are in the burrito so it won't reduce the ability of the burrito to get you fat. The apple probably won't get you fat, but it's really going to depend altogether on your whole diet, not just these two items, also on your metabolism, and daily activity.

I've never heard it put exactly that way, but I suppose it's true. Not in some sort of "magic bullet" way, however.

Aside from other nutrients, apples contain moisture and fiber. That fills you up, at least partially. If you're feeling full before the burrito comes along, you'll eat less of the (less-healthful) burrito. But the same thing would apply if you ate the apple prior to ANYTHING, not just a burrito.
