Question about carbs?!

Question:

Question about carbs?

I'm sure most people have heard that white things (flour, rice, etc.) are bad for you and cause you to gain weight, etc. If this is the case, why aren't all Asians incredibly unhealthy and fat? They're (as a rule) not. They're also home of the healthiest people in the world and live the longest (esp. the Japanese).

Does anyone ever wonder if maybe white flour and white rice and white bread AREN'T the culprits...that maybe it's something else?

Answers:
It is their portions sizes! They do not have seconds...thirds...or fourths....they begin with small amounts of rice. They have everything included in their meals. They have their simple carbohydrates/starch (rice), protein (fish or chicken) complex carbohydrates (veggies) ect....This is the key to staying thin! Small portions and a variety of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

Also...their foods are not genetically modified. Most of their foods are organic, and come straight from the earth. This is so much more healthy because it keeps more nutrients and doesn't add salt, fat, sugar, ect...

Asian people do not eat PIZZA and hamburgers along with their RICE...we eat rice and everything else in sight. they eat rice and fish, and not much else

In my opinion, sugar and artificial ingredients/chemicals are the two big things that contribute to poor health and weight gain. Carbs are an important part of a balanced diet and are good to eat as long as you don't overdo them and choose healthier carbs like whole grains and brown rice.

It is a combination of things. Sure you can eat all the rice you want but Asian people do not eat rice that has had all the benefits processed out. And they eat fish that is high in Omega3. They alos do not boil everything they eat in oil.

If you want to be healthy and trim, you must eat a combination of foods. The FDA has published the food pyramid for years. It is also the basis of weight watchers. You can eat whatever foods you want as long as you take a balanced approach, don't over do it, and not deep fry everything.

Diets are one of the problems. The countries that diet the most have the highest obesity rate. Countries where people just eat and don't worry about getting fat do not have this problem. They may not all by super slim but they aren't obese.
