Doesnt sugar make you want to go to sleep?!

Question:

Doesnt sugar make you want to go to sleep?

i heard it does but i thought it doesnt does it or doesnt it

Answers:
This may seem counter-intuitive. But Yes.

It could very well have this effect if you are a naturally hyper person. The counter-effect is similar to when doctors give hyper active people uppers to calm them down. They reach a peak and then burn out and it winds them down.

For most people I think I can say no.

It depends. As for myself, if i eat a candy bar it doen′t do anything but if i drink coke or pepsi i feel super sleepy. so it does depend on the person..

Take care!

Sugar gives you a short burst of energy and then it will quickly wear off but I wouldn't say that it makes you want to go to sleep.

for me yes. when my friends eat lots o sugar they get hyper, but im just like "OMG im tired!" =)

At first you get a sugar high or sugar buzz, but when the body metabolizes the sugar & you are coming down it does indeed make you run down, groggy & sluggish.

It depends on the individual. Eating sugar gives you a quick surge of energy, followed by a subsequent crash - this is why some people feel tired shortly after eating sugar. I don't have that reaction to it, but eating too much gives me a pretty bad headache.

yes

no sugar makes you hipper and stay up
