I am agreeing with this debate topic.

That's great, and wewill save more money in the long run becasue our health sytemswill be less clogged up with obese folks needing help with the negative impact being overweight causes, like diabetes, depression, heart problems, skin problems, self esteem,
Exercise/health memberships should be a tax exemption. we should all be encouraged to exercise more and eat less processed foods and money is a big motivator.

In Canada fast food is taxed, its called the gst or Goods and Services Tax.

Basically if you can eat it as it is without having to take it home and cook it, the gst is charged because the service of preparing it has already been performed.

It would only put more money into the government... with the pace of life that we all maintain, I can't see it curbing anybody who frequents these places. I'm against taxes in general (who isn't?), but I would be for it if the money went towards improving roads, bridges, etc. Mostly because I rarely go to these places.

i understand that if you can afford to buy an already prepared food you should be able to afford the tax but i think that no food should be taxed at all. it is very hard for some people to pay for their food.

No & yes at the sametime.
Why I say no because why in the hell should we pay the U.S. gov for geting food for. Charge people who want's to pay for it not the people who don't want it.
Why to yes is so the gov can try their endever best to save our damn lifes i think. Look how many years they spend trying with HIV, Canser And all that good stuff. So if they really want to use it for something good by all means go ahead.
If's it's for that damn meaning less war i say count me out. I'm just sorry they got men and wamen fighting over there for no damn reason JUST BRING THEM HOME ALL READY PLEASE...

no, it should be taxed if they take more time and make it more gourmet. Unless the company is losing money fast, so that's another reason.

well food prepared is already taxed here in the US,but to slight you somewhat, why would you want to infringe on my choices and rights as an individual,to purchase what I'd like,I smoke and cigarettes are taxed to death, did it stop me ...No its my choice, and if I die early, the cost of sustaining my life for the short period of time with cancer outweighs,a long term life on Govt programs, same with food.People are against smokers because of the smell, not health reasons trust me,or they would have outlawed them altogether, now you want to put a tax on fast food, obesity is unpleasent to your eye,and you want to force me to help eradicate an eyesore, and dont tell me about health reasons, or gyms would etheir be free or paid by you, that would be tyhe best plan of action and not a tax,let Govt run Govt and stay out of my decision process on what I think I should do

NO---the government taxes us on enough things already!! No taxes on fast food...and I'm skinny and don't eat fast food a lot so don't think I'm a fatty who wouldn't be able to live if fast food were taxed..i just think it's ridiculous how many taxes the government already has...why add another one?

Where I live, fast food is taxed.

hmm. lets see.

food shouldnt be taxed
but most fast food is unhealthy. except for like subway

right now im pretty sure is taxed right now

ya why not you shouldnt be eating fast food that much anyways. and restaurants charge tax so why not fast food restaurants

Fast food is already taxed.
