Why is it called pineapple, when's there neither pine nor apple in it?

In reality, though, pine cones were once called pineapples. Whenever the fruit we currently call "pineapples" was originally discovered in what is now Central America, they were called pineapples due to their resemblance to actual pine cones from conifer trees.
